Tox Bar is now offering CryoPen skin treatments at our Geelong cosmetic clinic. The CryoPen cryotherapy device is the gold standard in the treatment of benign skin lesions.

The CryoPen uses freezing temperatures to painlessly, safely and easily remove unwanted skin lesions. By using high-pressure N20 (nitric oxide), CryoPen removes skin tags, warts, cherry angiomas, milia, sun spots, age spots and other skin blemishes.

Our Geelong cryotherapy procedure

The CryoPen skin treatment is a medical skin procedure that is virtually painless, with treatment sessions lasting around two minutes. One of our specialised practitioners at Tox Bar Geelong applies the CryoPen to the lesion, with a jet of cold air treating the skin concern in a matter of seconds, with millimetre accuracy.

During the treatment, you will see a white frost on top of the skin lesion. This is a result of the freezing temperatures, and means it’s working! The frost usually goes away within a few seconds.

When to use cryotherapy

CryoPen cryotherapy at our Geelong clinic is suitable for a variety of skin blemishes and lesions including:

  • Skin tags
  • Age spots
  • Milia
  • Cherry angioma
  • Warts
  • Sun spots
  • Pigmentation
  • Plantar warts
  • Moles
  • Birthmarks

CryoPen aftercare

After the procedure, you may noticed a raised, blister like bump over the treated area. This is absolutely normal. We advise the leave the area uncovered as this aids in the healing process. Sometimes, we may recommend to put a bandaid over the skin if it is located in an area that may be knocked. In the treatment of pigmented lesions, you will notice an initial darkening of the lesion.

Treatment is safe for all.

How long does CryoPen treatment last?

Evidence shows results are permanent and most clients should only require one cryotherapy treatment. Some skin lesions may require an additional treatment.

Cryotherapy side effects

CryoPen is a very safe procedure with only mild side effects.

  • Slight discomfort- the CryoPen procedure is virtually painless, but you may feel a slight sting to the skin, or a sense of pressure. This feeling may last several minutes. But don’t be too worried as it goes away super quick.
  • Sores and blisters -it can be common to see a small blister appear over the treated area. Often a scab will form in the coming days. It is really important not to scratch or pick at a scab as this can lead to scarring of the skin.
  • The treated skin concern will completely heal within one to 21 days. The scab that forms around the lesion will shed after a week to 10 days. Some patients may develop a temporary pigmentation or slight scarring in the treated area.

When not to use CryoPen

At Tox Bar Geelong we recommend to see an expert dermatologist if you or we are concerned about a lesion, as some lesions can be related to cancer. Please consult the expert advice of a dermatologist if you are concerned about a lesion or blemish as CryoPen cannot be used to treat cancerous lesions.

Treatment will not be advised for pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers, as the risks are unknown. Treatment can be performed once you have stopped breastfeeding.

CryoPen follow up

At Tox Bar we provide a four-week follow-up appointment to assess the result of our Geelong CryoPen treatment.
